For those concerned about the RNA vaccines, the J&J vaccine has received it's EUA and will start going out. It's a weakened adenovirus vaccine, very conventional and safe. Takes longer to produce, and won't go out at the rates Moderna or Pfizer can deliver, but it's a good option.
It also stores better and does not need to be deep-frozen like the RNA vaccines.
Incideltally, RNA is just a messenger, it does not to be stable, which is why it has to be frozen.
Your body is a chemical factory. DNA makes RNA make proteins, through a process called transcription. An enzyme unwinds the replicated DNA and makes an RNA strand. This RNA has the instructions to make the desired protein.
In some cases RNA can reverse transcribe and make a DNA molecule. This can happen with the SARS-Cov2 virus, which may be what's happening when it infects other organs in the body beyond the respiratory system.
This reverse transcription is the "RT" portion of RT-PCR testing, we can also do it in the lab.
Reverse transcription cannot happen with the mRNA vaccines, because they only code for one small part of the viral genome. After the mRNA molecule delivers it's message, it just breaks down. The vaccine does not contain the entire viral genome. It only has a small portion, the part that codes the spike protein. Since it cannot reverse transcribe, it cannot create a DNA molecule.
There are legitimate unknowns about the mRNA vaccines, but permanently altering your DNA is nonsensical in the molecular biology context. It's not scientifically possible.
DNA makes RNA make Proteins. Just remember that one simple thing.
What is possible are things like antibody dependent enhancement,- when the antibodies produced by the vaccine are below a certain threshold, your body does not recognize the antigen. When you are later challenged by the virus, instead of fighting it, your immune system gets hijacked and actually enhances the viral invasion.
Some potential issues exist for pregnant women. The video from AFLDRS with Simone Gold touches on the subject and the risks of VADE. Dr Gold is a smart lady- note she does NOT make that claim about the vaccine altering your DNA.
All vaccines "alter" your immune system, because the immune system has a memory. Vaccines train the immune system to recognize pathogens, and that training is retained- sometimes for a short duration, sometimes forever.
That's the whole point of vaccines...
