LOST HISTORY. UNWRITTEN. UNREAD.
People worry about history being "lost' — as if any fact, once created, could become uncreated. Aristotle says even God cannot change the past. A better question is can He change the present?
There are many things about the past we do not know. — I have a graduate degree in history, and am fully aware how much history I do not know. — This is not the same as being "lost" — everything that happened still went to make up the present, just as each square of the earth's surface, no matter how small, goes to make up the globe. As little as we know of earth's surface, what makes us think any part of it unimportant?
If anything is lost it is not history, but our knowledge — and we know how to remedy that! Why complain about the supposed loss of history if you read no history at all! Read if you would learn. If you know write, even if it is a simple letter to your children or grandchildren.
The cure for ignorance: read a book. Suggestions: I suggest you start with the Bible, and the others will make more sense.
